With a few days spare we make a move up to East Cape - one of the more remote areas in the North Island - for an epic adventure up Old Motu Road before heading out to East Cape. Mint beaches and awesome views await.
The best 4wd track in New Zealand? Quite possibly! We explore the old gold mining settlement of Macetown before heading up the West Coast, stopping in at some awesome spots then onto the Braeburn Range and up Porika Road before heading up to Picton to catch the ferry back to Wellington.

In this episode we head head through Thompsons Gorge, head up Mt Moka for a quick look before making our way over to Skippers Canyon Road, also know as New Zealand's "Most Dangerous Road" and out towards the abandoned town where we were blown away with how epic it was! Daniel headed south for 2 weeks of filming and exploring in the South Island - sadly COVID-19 had other ideas and forced an early retreat. Even still, he managed to get down through some amazing spots - Rainbow Road, Molesworth Station, Lees Valley and the Macaulay Valley!
We wind our way along the southern coast of the North Island visiting some of the amazing sights and exploring the offroad tracks that hug the hills in an epic weekend trip out to the Wairarapa. Starting the day at Ocean Beach, we head along to Lake Ferry, Whangaimoana Beach then out to Palliser for an amazing night camping under the stars.
Summer is here which means one of the best tracks in the North Island is open - the 42 Traverse, a 46 km remote route through the centre of the North Island. The track has been well graded for the 2020 season, but not everything goes to plan for one of the trucks...
We take our new 80 Series Landcruiser and the Hilux up into the hills above the Manawatu for a showdown - new vs old, husband vs wife - and to explore some awesome 4wd tracks high up in the hills. Driving with views this good is pretty hard to beat!
