4WD track in the West Coast region
Waitaha River is a short West Coast detour onto the river bank, with a shifting gravel route and a relaxed spot to stop and hang out by the water.
A quick detour off the road brings you down onto the river bank, and it's a cool little spot to hang out for a while. Classic West Coast river country, with open gravel and the Waitaha running past.
The route across the bank shifts around as the river moves, so keep an eye out and pick your line as you go rather than trusting old tracks. It's short and casual, more of a sneaky side trip than a proper drive.
Looks like people have camped down here at times, but if you're thinking of pitching up for the night, it's at your own risk. Riverbeds can change quickly on the Coast.
