Totara River

4WD track in the West Coast region

Totara River on the West Coast is a short, easy gravel side road down to the riverbed, with views inland to an old rail bridge.

A short gravel road drops off down to the Totara River bed, and the payoff is the old rail bridge. From the riverbed you can look inland and see it spanning the river, which makes for a good spot to stretch the legs and have a look round.

There's nothing too challenging about the drive. It's a quick, easy side trip rather than a proper 4WD outing, so it suits most vehicles happy on a bit of gravel.

Worth a pull over if you're passing through and fancy a break from the main road.
