Climbing away to the northwest from where it crosses the Otago Central Rail Trail, this gravel road opens up into proper high country. It winds along gently, with broad views over the surrounding district as you gain a bit of height.

The surface is maintained gravel and the going is medium grade. Low chance of bush rash too. More about the open outlook than the driving.

It's back-country here, so leave any gates as you found them to keep stock secure and keep access good for everyone who follows.
