4WD track in the Otago region
Skippers Creek is a short, rough 4WD track through open Otago high country, running out to a historic dam before dropping into the creek itself.
A short run through classic Otago high country, following roughly along the creek that gives the track its name. The land out here is open and remote, the sort of backcountry that feels a long way from anywhere.
The track itself is rough, bumpy and undulating, so you'll want a capable four-wheel drive under you. It heads out to an old dam, which makes a good landmark to aim for, before dropping down into the creek at the far end. That final descent adds a bit of extra character to the run.
Not a long one, but plenty of interest packed in. Take it steady on the rougher sections and enjoy the quiet of the place.
