Random Spur Road is a rugged 4WD route in Canterbury that links Cheviot to Kaiwara Road East, cutting through open farmland and rolling hills. The track offers wide views of the surrounding countryside, including the Hurunui River and Lowry Hills. It’s unsealed, often rough or muddy, and includes multiple farm gates—so be prepared to stop and leave them as you found them. A short side track near the top leads to a scenic trig point, and the route is best tackled in dry conditions with a capable 4WD.
