Following the Upper Grey River for much of its length, this gravel road sits between the Canterbury and West Coast sides of the divide. The country winds through river valley flats and catches the change from the alpine ground to the coastal side of the island.

Plenty to do along the route. Pull over for lunch down by the river, or stretch your legs on a walk out to the nearby lake. Take your time and enjoy a quiet day out.
