4WD track in the West Coast region
Pakiroa Beach is a short West Coast beach run reached by a steep, rocky drop, with a tide that comes well in, so timing and care matter.
A short, rocky drop leads down onto the sand here, and it's steep enough that it pays to take it slowly. Pick your line carefully on the way down and think about how you'll get back up before you commit.
Once you're on the beach it's a cool little run along the coast at Pakiroa. Short but sweet, and a nice change from the usual gravel.
The tide comes in a fair way, so it's worth checking the times before you head down and leaving yourself plenty of room to get off the sand.
