Easygoing gravel run through the rolling hill country, with open views across farmland and tussock-covered slopes. Good one for taking the back roads at a relaxed pace, well away from the main highways.

Middle Valley Road is a graded gravel surface that suits most vehicles in fine weather. Conditions change with the weather though, so take it steady on the loose stuff and watch for blind corners.

There's not much in the way of facilities along the way, so bring what you need before you head in.
