Mccullums Mill Road

4WD track in the West Coast region

McCullums Mill Road is an easy West Coast gravel run near Karamea, leading through native bush to the Ōpārara Arches and forest walking tracks.

This easy gravel run winds towards the Ōpārara Arches through some lovely native forest. The drive is relaxed and scenic, threading beneath a dense canopy of West Coast bush.

From the end of the road, a network of walking tracks heads off into the forest to reach the limestone arches and other features. Well worth parking up and doing them on foot once you're there.

Expect rich greenery, tall trees and the quiet, damp feel of the Ōpārara Basin. Bring sturdy footwear for the walks and allow time to take it all in. Good one for combining a gentle gravel outing with a bit of time on your feet exploring one of the area's more distinctive landscapes.
