Loganburn Dam

4WD track in the Otago region

Loganburn Dam is a short, easy Otago high country run to the Great Moss Swamp reservoir, with tussock, schist tors and the Sentinel Rocks nearby.

(1)

A short run down to the Loganburn Reservoir, also known as the Great Moss Swamp, out on the open Otago high country. It's easy going for the most part, with a few rough, rocky and muddy patches, set among tussock and rolling hills.

Good spot to launch a boat or just pull up and spend an afternoon by the water. While you're here, the Sentinel Rocks nearby are worth a look, weather permitting. The schist tors and big-sky landscape are a real feature out this way.

It can get exposed, so come prepared for the changeable weather. Low cloud and rain roll in quickly and can shut down the views before you know it. A relaxed day out at the lake, suited to most well-set-up vehicles.
