4WD track in the Canterbury region
Lake Emily is a short but rutted Canterbury high country 4WD track that rewards capable vehicles with a quiet lakeside finish.
Lake Emily is a short 4WD track in the Canterbury high country, leading out to a quiet lakeside setting at the end. Although brief, it's tougher than a typical beginner route and rates more as a medium-grade run than an easy one.
The surface is rutted, with some deep, carved-out ruts and holes along the way, so it's better suited to capable 4WDs than to first-timers. 2WD vehicles can be parked on the verge of the farm track, then 4WDs can continue a further 1.4 km to a car park on the public conservation land. Don't go beyond the car park.
This is a working farm, so please be considerate of other users and farm vehicles. It's a well-rated little run that rewards the effort, delivering you to a peaceful lake in the high country.
