Lake Emily

4WD track in the Canterbury region

Lake Emily is a short but rutted Canterbury high-country 4WD track ending at a quiet lake, suited to capable 4WDs rather than beginners.

(2)

A short run up in the Canterbury high country that delivers you to a quiet lake at the end. It's brief, but don't let that fool you.

The surface is rutted, with some deep, carved-out ruts and holes along the way. If you're in a 2WD, park on the verge of the farm track, then 4WDs can carry on a further 1.4 km to the car park on the public conservation land. Don't go beyond the car park.

This is a working farm, so go easy and keep an eye out for farm vehicles. For all its short length, it's a well-rated little run that earns its keep, dropping you at a peaceful high-country lake.
