4WD track in the West Coast region
Denniston Brakehead Access is a short West Coast track to a clifftop viewpoint above the old coal mine, with big ocean views and mining history.
High on the Denniston Plateau, this short vehicle track drops down to the brakehead of the old coal mine. The windswept tops sit well above the West Coast, and the viewpoint at the end looks out over the ocean far below, with the bare, weathered country spread out around you.
This is where one of the country's most isolated mining communities once lived and worked, and you can still pick out remnants of the industrial past scattered across the plateau.
