(1)

Tucked away near Westport on the West Coast, Conns Creek is an easy gravel drive leading up to the bottom of the old Denniston railway incline, which once hauled coal down from the plateau high above. It's a short, straightforward route rather than a technical challenge, ending at the historic site where you can still clearly see where the old rail lines ran all those years ago.

The setting is classic West Coast bush, and the route is a good pick for those interested in the region's rich coal-mining heritage. Expect a graded gravel surface that's well within reach of most vehicles.

Note that this track stops at the bottom of the incline and does not connect to the maze of tracks up on the Denniston plateau itself, so plan it as a destination drive to soak up a bit of history rather than a through-route.
