4WD track in the Coromandel region
Castle Rock is a short Coromandel forestry road off the 309 Road, an easy climb with a small ford, a play area and views of the namesake outcrop.
Branching off the 309 Road up in the Coromandel ranges, this short forestry road kicks off with a little ford. It's usually dry, and there's a small play area to mess about in before you start climbing into the hills.
As you gain height you'll catch glimpses of the distinctive Castle Rock outcrop that gives the track its name. Easy, enjoyable run with some nice forest around you the whole way up.
The drivable section ends at a gate. A good little detour if you're already poking around the 309 Road.
