Running from SH5 up to Minginui, this route takes you deep into the Whirinaki Forest. You get a mix of tall native forest and pine as you work your way along, with plenty to look at the whole way.

The main route is a fairly easy drive. What makes it worth the trip is all the side routes branching off it. They range from easy going to a fair bit more demanding, so there's something whether you're after a cruise or a bit of a challenge.

You could easily fill a full day out here, or longer if you want to poke around the lot. Take your time, enjoy it, and leave no trace when you go.
