Rolling hill country inland of Hawke's Bay sets the scene for this easygoing drive. The surface is a mix of semi-sealed and gravel, so it's more of a relaxed cruise than any sort of technical four-wheeling.

The road rises and falls through the countryside, with sweeping views across the hills as you go. Good one for slowing right down and taking in the outlook at your own pace.
