A short, relaxed beach run along Waimārama Beach on the Hawke's Bay coast, southeast of Hastings. Generally you'll want to head north along the sand, taking in open coastal views and the surf rolling in.

Be sure to respect the vehicle closure to the south, which runs from October to April to protect the area during the busier season - check the signs before you set out. As with any beach driving, keep an eye on the tides and conditions, and stick to the firmer sand where you can.

It's an awesome place to spend the day, whether you're after an easy cruise on the sand or a spot to relax by the water. A great, low-key destination for a casual day trip with the family or mates.
