Vandy Road is a hard, muddy 4WD route winding through forest in the Waikato. This is a proper very-hard track rather than a gentle outing, with deep mud that's at its toughest through the winter months and dries out to become much easier in peak summer. A winch is strongly recommended, and the reward is some genuinely good fun for those who like a challenge. The track is open all year round and also makes a great ride for quads in any season. To find the start, head to the end of Vandy Road by the house at the top, where the track veers off to the left at the road's end - you can't miss it. Come prepared with recovery gear and expect a proper workout through the bush, especially in the wetter months.
