A maintained gravel road runs out to Totaranui and its well-known campsite, right on the edge of Abel Tasman National Park. This isn't a technical 4WD challenge. It's an easy, straightforward run that most vehicles will handle, so it's a good option if you're heading to the coast to camp.

The road winds through native bush with glimpses of the surrounding country as it drops down toward the golden sands and sheltered bays the area is known for. A low-stress drive that puts you in one of the top corners of the South Island at the end.
