Tokerau Beach

4WD track in the Northland region

(1)

On the Karikari Peninsula in the Far North, Tokerau Beach is one of the last few beaches you can still drive onto in this part of Northland. It's an easy, scenic spot with plenty of room to spread out.

The driving is straightforward beach work along the sand, making it a relaxed run rather than a technical challenge. It's a popular base for fishing and just generally having a mint time by the water.

Please note the southern end near the river mouth is out of bounds for 4WDs, so keep clear of that area and respect the closure. Well worth stopping in for a look if you're exploring the peninsula.
