The Bridge To Somewhere

4WD track in the Taranaki region

The Bridge to Somewhere is a remote eastern Taranaki gravel run through rolling farmland and bush near historic Whangamomona

(1)

Out in remote eastern Taranaki, a scenic gravel road winds through classic back country to reach the Bridge to Somewhere, not far from the historic Whangamomona area. Rolling farmland and bush views open up along the way, and getting there is half the appeal.

The driving is easy-graded long run through a quiet and genuinely pretty corner of the country. If you're keen to keep exploring, the well-known Whangamomona Track is nearby.

Worth the drive whether you're after the scenery, the remoteness, or a bit of local history. If you've got the time, this part of the country pairs well with a jet boat trip up the Whanganui River to see the famous Bridge to Nowhere.
