Tangahoe Valley

4WD track in the Taranaki region

Tangahoe Valley is an easy South Taranaki gravel road through rolling farmland and bush, winding down to the Patea River for fishing and boating.

A long, winding gravel road runs through rolling South Taranaki farmland and bush-clad hills, following the valley as it goes.

The road eventually drops down to the Patea River, where there's a spot to launch a boat or just pull up and enjoy the river. Quiet backcountry the whole way, with classic Taranaki views along the route.

Good one for a leisurely explore, a spot of fishing, or a day out on the water. Nothing demanding, just steady meandering through peaceful farming country.
