This short side route cuts through dense Waikato forest, branching off the main trail for those after an extra challenge. It is more about character than distance, packing plenty of test into a compact run.

The terrain is tight and demanding, with sharp turns threading between the trees and stretches that stay muddy and slick. It rewards careful wheel placement and a bit of patience, and it can punish a moment's inattention.

This is not one to tackle alone. Travelling solo without a winch is not recommended, so bring recovery gear and ideally a second vehicle. Get it right and it is a satisfying little detour for confident drivers.
