One of several routes that climbs off Ripiro Beach and heads into the dunes backing the west coast. The reward is the open expanse of the dunes and a satisfying mix of beach and inland driving on one of the area's classic playgrounds.

Expect soft, shifting sand where getting your tyre pressures and momentum right makes all the difference between a smooth run and a bogging. The track winds up through the dune system before linking inland, so keep an eye out for others coming the other way, especially over blind crests and tight sections.

The sand and the route itself can change with the tides and weather, so treat each crossing on its own terms. Drop your pressures before you leave the firm beach, carry recovery gear, and read the terrain as you go.
