Puwheke Road runs out to Puwheke Beach on the Karikari Peninsula in Northland, a remote stretch of coast known for its bright white sand and sweeping ocean views. The road delivers you to one of the area's quieter beaches, well away from the busier spots, and the scenery alone makes the trip worthwhile.

Note that vehicle access onto the beach itself is no longer permitted, so plan to park up and explore on foot. Even so, the beach and its surrounds are well worth the visit for the open sand and peaceful setting.

A great destination if you're touring the Karikari Peninsula and want to take in some of Northland's spectacular coastline.
