4WD track in the Northland region
Puwheke Lookout is a short, steep Northland climb up from the beach to a high coastal vantage point with sweeping views over the bay.
A short climb up from the beach takes you to one of the better coastal vantage points in the Far North. It rises fast above the sand, so this is a quick detour rather than a long trip out.
The climb itself is the main challenge, steep enough that you'll want to take care on the way up. Once you're at the top of Puwheke, the views open right out over the bay, the coastline and the water beyond.
Good spot to pull over and take it in before heading back down. Worth having the camera handy for the panorama.
