4WD track in the Hawke's Bay region
Pourerere Beach is a Hawke's Bay coastal drive on firm sand below dramatic cliffs, with tide-dependent sections that need careful timing.
A coastal cruise along the base of some big cliffs down the Central Hawke's Bay coast. Wide ocean views and a remote, away-from-it-all feel the whole way along.
The driving is firm sand along the shoreline, easy going in the right conditions. Tides are the main thing to watch here. Certain sections run tight against the cliffs and can be impassable at high tide, so keep a close eye on the tide tables.
Best to plan your run for a falling or low tide and leave plenty of margin so you're not caught out by rising water. A relaxed spot if you enjoy a beach drive with big sea and cliff scenery.
