Old Waiotapu Road/Kerosene Creek

4WD track in the Waikato region

Old Waiotapu Road in the Waikato is an easy gravel road south of Rotorua leading to Kerosene Creek, a warm geothermal swimming hole in native bush.

This one is more about where you end up than the driving to get there. A simple gravel road runs out to Kerosene Creek, an easy detour if you're passing through.

From the parking area it's a short walk down to the creek, where naturally warm geothermal water flows through a bush-lined valley and tumbles over a small waterfall into pools below.

Hard to beat sitting in the warm water with native bush all around. It's a relaxed spot rather than a technical drive, popular with locals and visitors, so turn up ready to share the creek with others.
