Louis Creek

4WD track in the Tasman region

Louis Creek is a gravel route through native bush in Tasman's Glenhope Scenic Reserve, with historic goldfields you can fossick in.

Set in the Glenhope Scenic Reserve, this one runs through native bush and follows a creek with a bit of gold-mining history behind it. You can try your hand at fossicking in the old goldfields, just stick to the rules that apply within the reserve.

The route is a gravel road winding through the bush. It's generally accessible, though DOC recommend a 4WD in wet weather, since the surface gets slippery and a fair bit more challenging once it's damp.

A quiet, scenic spot if you fancy mixing a bit of backcountry exploration with some old-fashioned gold panning. Take your time and respect the reserve.
