A proper sand dune climb up among the soft coastal dunes Northland's known for, where loose sand and steep faces sort out who's got the right approach. Make it to the top and you're rewarded with a great view over the surrounding country.

Getting up takes momentum and commitment. There's an alternative line to the summit, but it's just as much of a challenge as the main run. Dropping your tyre pressures and committing to a confident run-up make all the difference on a climb like this.

Best suited to capable, lightweight 4WDs with experienced drivers who don't mind hopping out for a push now and then. The payoff at the top is worth the effort.
