Conical Peak

4WD track in the Auckland region

Conical Peak is an easy gravel forestry road in Auckland's Dome Valley Forest, with bush side tracks ranging from simple to genuinely challenging.

(3)

Up in the Dome Valley Forest north of Auckland, the main run is a well-maintained gravel forestry road. It's generally easy and short, so most setups will handle it without any bother.

The interest comes from the network of side routes and bush tracks that fork off as you climb toward the peak. Some of these turn into rougher, overgrown gravel, and a few are deliberately blocked with concrete blocks. They range from straightforward to genuinely challenging, so take them at your own discretion. Conditions vary a fair bit from one branch to the next.

Plenty of bush scenery throughout, and with all the side tracks there's reason to come back and poke around at your own pace. Keep to the main road for an easy outing, or branch off if you're after something more demanding.
