4WD track in the Tasman region
Cape Farewell Lookout in Tasman is a short gravel road to a viewpoint over rugged sea cliffs and rock arches at the top of the South Island.
Out at the northernmost tip of the South Island, a short, well-formed gravel road runs to the Cape Farewell lookout. Easy going and fine for most vehicles in good conditions.
The road ends at a viewpoint over some properly wild coast. You're looking at rugged sea cliffs, rock arches and windswept headlands where the Tasman Sea piles in.
Good spot to pull over and take in this exposed corner of the country. Bring a jacket, the cape catches plenty of wind.
