Whangaiterenga Campsite

Campsite in the Coromandel region

Whangaiterenga Campsite in Coromandel Forest Park is a tidy bush site by the Kauaeranga River, with flush toilets, swimming spots and short walks.

(2)

Tucked into native bush in the Kauaeranga Valley, this site sits near where the Whangaiterenga Stream meets the Kauaeranga River. Tent and non-powered sites are laid out in alcoves, so parking and pitches get a bit of natural privacy.

Facilities are simple but well kept. There are flush toilets and a water supply, with water also available from the stream. Everything stays clean and tidy, which is worth noting for a bush campsite.

The river is the pick here. Easy access for a swim or to cool off, and a couple of short bush walks lead straight out from the campsite. A quiet, relaxed spot to pitch up for the night surrounded by forest, and a handy base for exploring this corner of the valley.
