Campsite in the Manawatu-Whanganui region
Waiinu Beach Campsite is an open, roomy beachfront spot in Southern Taranaki with beach driving, a BBQ and toilets, but exposed to the wind.
Right on the coast, this open, roomy spot sits just metres from the sand. It's less than a five minute walk to the beach, and about 8km from Waitotara township. Vehicles are allowed to drive on the beach here, which is a bit of a novelty.
Unpowered sites have room for motorhomes, and there are toilets, a BBQ and a children's playground. No kitchen, laundry or showers though, so come self-sufficient. Dogs are welcome on leads and under control.
Being so open and close to the coast, Waiinu Beach is quite exposed, so be ready for wind when the weather isn't calm. Flat spots for tents or vehicles can be a bit limited too. Maximum stay is 50 days, strictly no hooking to the water supply, and please take your rubbish away with you.
