Trotters Gorge Campsite

Campsite in the Otago region

Trotters Gorge Campsite is a quiet Otago bush spot near Moeraki with tent sites, stream water and riverside walks, reached by two fords.

(1)

Tucked into native bush a little inland from Moeraki, this is a quiet, sheltered spot that works well for a relaxed overnight stop. Non-powered tent sites sit among the trees, with the sound of the nearby stream close by. That same stream is where you get your water.

Facilities are basic, just non-flush toilets. Two riverside walking tracks run from the campsite, so you can wander off for a short stroll or a longer walk through the gorge.

Getting in means crossing two fords, so a 4WD or something with decent clearance comes in handy. The fords can come up quickly after rain, so keep an eye on the weather and water levels before you commit to staying the night. A peaceful, family-standard choice for anyone who likes bush surroundings and a bit of riverside walking.
