Campsite in the Nelson region

Teetotal Campsite is a basic tent site near St Arnaud in Nelson Lakes National Park, handy for trampers and paddlers, with untreated tap water and dogs allowed.

(1)

A tucked-away spot within easy reach of Nelson Lakes National Park, close to St Arnaud. You're surrounded by beech forest, alpine scenery and the park's lakes, so it works well for trampers, paddlers and anyone heading into the back country.

Facilities are basic but useful. Non-powered tent sites, non-flush toilets, and a tap with untreated water, so boil it before drinking. The site is wheelchair accessible, and dogs are allowed if you've got one along for the trip.

As with most national park camps, come prepared to be self-sufficient and to share the space when it's busy. Teetotal can fill up quickly in peak times, so it pays to turn up early rather than late in the day. An unpretentious place to pitch up close to one of the South Island's best alpine parks.
