Close to the start of the Hopkins Valley track, this classic six-bunk backcountry hut sits out in broad alpine valley country. Good spot to base yourself for a look round the Hopkins, a remote valley ringed by mountains.

Monument Hut has that old-school character people appreciate, with a fireplace for heating and mattresses on the bunks. There's plenty of open ground around it if you'd rather pitch a tent than bunk inside.
