Campsite in the Marlborough region
Molesworth Cob Cottage Campsite is a basic, much-loved high-country camp in inland Marlborough with clean long-drops, river swimming and great walks.
Camp beside the original cob cottage built in 1885, near the boundary of the Molesworth Recreation Reserve in inland Marlborough. This much-loved, basic campsite sits in big high-country scenery, with plenty of open space and a sheltered feel.
Facilities are simple but well kept: clean non-flush long-drop toilets and a tap supplying untreated water, so be sure to boil before drinking. A waterhole in the nearby river makes a good spot to freshen up, and there are walks around the area with amazing views. A short walk leads to a view of Molesworth Station itself, which you can't see from the road, so it's well worth doing.
Sites are first in, first served, and there's a modest camping fee. It makes an ideal base to start or break up a journey along Molesworth Road. Being high country, it can get quite cold, so come prepared. A consistent favourite with families.
