Camp beside the original cob cottage, built in 1885, near the boundary of the Molesworth Recreation Reserve up inland Marlborough way. Big high-country scenery all around, with plenty of open space and a sheltered feel to it.

Facilities are simple but well kept. Clean non-flush long-drops and a tap supplying untreated water, so boil it before drinking. There's a waterhole in the nearby river that's good for freshening up, and a few walks with big views. A short walk leads to a view of Molesworth Station itself, which you can't see from the road, so it's worth doing.

Sites are first in, first served, with a modest fee. Good spot to start or break up a run along Molesworth Road. Being high country it can get cold, even in summer, so come prepared. A consistent favourite with families.
