Molesworth Cob Cottage Campsite

Campsite in the Marlborough region

(6)

Camp near the original cob cottage built in 1885, close to the boundary of the Molesworth Recreation Reserve in inland Marlborough. This is a much-loved, basic campsite set in big-country high-country scenery, with plenty of open space and a sheltered feel. Facilities are simple but well kept: clean non-flush long-drop toilets and a tap supplying untreated water, so be sure to boil before drinking. A nearby waterhole in the river makes a good spot to freshen up, and there are walks around the area with amazing views. A short walk leads to a view of Molesworth Station itself, which you can't see from the road, so it's well worth doing. Sites are first in, first served. It makes an ideal base to start or break up a journey along Molesworth Road. Being high country, it can get quite cold, so come prepared. A favourite with families and well worth the modest camping fee.
