Matatā Campsite

Campsite in the Bay of Plenty region

Matatā Campsite is a beachside Bay of Plenty spot next to a wildlife refuge, with dune tracks to the river mouth, good fishing and hot showers.

Right beside the beach with the Matatā wildlife refuge next door, this is an easygoing spot for a night or two by the coast. Good fishing and swimming, and the dune tracks lead through to the river mouth.

Tent sites are non-powered, and there are hot showers, treated tap water you can drink, and non-flush toilets. It's been a staffed site, which campers have liked.

A few minutes away you'll find fish and chips and the local pub. No dogs, in keeping with the neighbouring refuge, and it's worth booking ahead.
