Matatā Campsite sits in a coastal setting in the Bay of Plenty, right beside the beach and next to the Matatā wildlife refuge. It's a family-friendly spot with excellent fishing and swimming, and dune tracks lead through to the river mouth.

The campsite offers non-powered tent sites, hot showers, treated tap water suitable for drinking, and non-flush toilets. It has been a staffed site, which campers have appreciated.

A short distance away you'll find food options including fish and chips and the local pub. Note that no dogs are allowed, in keeping with the neighbouring wildlife refuge, and booking ahead is recommended.
