Maitai Bay Campsite

Campsite in the Northland region

(3)

On the Karikari Peninsula in Northland, Maitai Bay is a much-loved DOC campsite set in a sheltered, curving bay framed by beautiful pohutukawa trees. It's a favourite with families, offering plenty of space, a clean white-sand beach, and easy access to the many gorgeous bays nearby. The setting is genuinely tranquil, a great place to unplug and enjoy the coast. Facilities include non-powered and tent sites, flush and composting toilets, both enclosed cold showers and beach showers, tap water, and boat launching. Sites are wheelchair accessible with assistance. You can prebook online or pay cash at the iron ranger, and prices are reasonable. The top camp fills quickly in peak season, though rooftop-tent campers are usually accommodated. Staff are friendly, and please respect the campsite rules. Note that no dogs are allowed, except for those belonging to the residents who live there.
