Lake Paringa Campsite

Campsite in the West Coast region

(2)

On State Highway 6 between Haast and the Moeraki River, Lake Paringa Campsite is a popular DOC site on New Zealand's West Coast. It sits right beside the lake, offering easy roadside access and plenty of open space for non-powered and tent camping. The setting is classic West Coast: a tranquil lake fringed by dense native bush, with good lake views from the camping area. It's a great base for boating, fishing and swimming, with a boat launch on site, and it marks one end of the Haast to Paringa Cattle Track for those wanting to stretch their legs. Facilities include non-flush toilets, untreated tap water (boil before use) and wheelchair-accessible access. As anywhere on this coast, sandflies can be persistent, so bring repellent. A relaxed, scenic stop that suits travellers heading along the Haast Pass corridor.
