Lake Ōkaro

Campsite in the Bay of Plenty region

Lake Ōkaro is a significant taonga (treasure) to the Ngati Whaoa and Ngati Tahu tribes. The reserve is accessible from Waimangu Road from the north, and Ōkaro Road from the south. There is an easy 2.5km track around the edge of the lake. The walk includes short boardwalk sections and lovely wetland views.
