Beside the Ōhau River, this is a peaceful bush setting with plenty of space to spread out. Handy as a stopover north of Wellington, and it stays quiet even on long weekends, with little road noise to bother you at night.

The river has good, fairly safe access, with swimming holes and walking tracks close by. There are grassy areas for a picnic, a game of cricket or touch, or a walk with the dog. Dogs can be off leash but need to be kept under control and away from swimmers, and keep an eye on the kids by the water.

Camping runs from 1 December to 28 April, subject to availability, and you'll need a permit during that season. A toilet and changing block is open through the camping period. A relaxed, well-regarded spot for a riverside night.
