Campsite in the Canterbury region
Tucked away at the mouth of the Hurunui River on the Canterbury coast, this quiet riverside camping ground is administered by the Domett Reserves Committee. It's an out-of-the-way spot with pleasant river views, and outside peak season you may well have the place to yourself. The setting is a popular family-friendly base, well regarded over the years and rated as one of the favourite spots in the region by repeat visitors. Facilities are basic: non-powered sites and basic toilets only. It's a zero waste site, so you'll need to take all your rubbish home with you. Come prepared and self-sufficient. The campground is at its best in fine weather when the river is running clean, so a good-weather window will reward you with a genuinely scenic and peaceful coastal-river stay.
