Hotoritori Campsite

Campsite in the Coromandel region

(1)

Hotoritori is a riverside campsite in the Kauaeranga Valley, about 3 km north of the visitor centre in Coromandel Forest Park. It sits beside the river in a peaceful bush setting, with tent and non-powered sites, non-flush toilets, and water available from the stream. The valley is well known for its network of walking tracks, and there are some lovely walks within easy reach of camp, along with a good swimming spot nearby to cool off on warm days. The sheltered location holds up well in rough weather. Note that dogs are not allowed here, as poison traps are used in the surrounding area. It's a simple, scenic basecamp for exploring one of the Coromandel's most popular tramping valleys.
