Waitetuna Valley Road sits in the Waikato hills, making a handy and scenic detour between Raglan and Hamilton rather than a destination in its own right. It's roughly 50/50 seal and gravel, with the sealed sections quite tight and twisty while the gravel runs mostly wide and open. The gravel climbs over a hill that can offer pleasant valley views on a clear day, though low cloud can shut the outlook down entirely. A working quarry partway over the hill means weekday traffic can include larger vehicles, and most of the corners on the gravel are heavily corrugated, so expect a bumpy ride and possible underside scrapes in low-clearance cars. The going is otherwise easy and well suited to most vehicles. Note that near the southern end the road changes name, so approaching from the south it actually begins as Fillery Road.
