Waiotemarama Gorge Road is a scenic shortcut between Waipoua Forest and Opononi. Near the southern end, you’ll find old buildings and drying pig skins, making for an interesting stop. The Waiotemarama Waterfall walk begins midway, and Tane Mahuta, New Zealand’s largest Kauri tree, is a must-see just south of the road.
