Tapu Coroglen Road

4WD track in the Bay of Plenty region

Tapu Coroglen Road is an easy Coromandel gravel road through native forest, with big range views and the famous square kauri tree about halfway along.

(4)

A cruisy gravel road winding through the hills, linking Tapu on the west coast across to Coroglen. Easy, well-formed driving on a smooth surface that suits most vehicles year round, though it can get a touch muddy through winter.

The road rolls through native forest with lovely views out over the surrounding ranges, and there's usually not much traffic to share it with. About halfway along you'll find the famous square kauri, a genuinely unusual tree well worth pulling over to have a look at.

More of a relaxed scenic outing than a technical challenge, so it's a good one if you just want an easy drive with plenty of bush and big Coromandel views.
