4WD track in the Waikato region
SF70 Entry is an easy graded road into the Waikato's SF70 area, with views and a wild loop beyond where the red tracks get gnarly in the wet.
A graded entry road leads into the well-known SF70 area, and it's a cool, easy drive in either direction with good views out over the surrounding country. That's why it's graded separately from the area beyond. Stick to the formed road on the way in, as it's private land on the western side.
Once you're into the main loop it gets wild pretty quickly. The yellow tracks stay manageable, but the harder red tracks get gnarly, particularly in the wet. There's a good network of offshoots at varying difficulty, so you can pick a line to suit your setup.
Plenty of people run the easier sections in a well-set-up wagon with no trouble, but if you're planning to complete the loop you'll want a winch and ideally a second vehicle. A fair few have turned back at the tougher sections and come back better prepared. Fun, popular spot with something for everyone.
